Foundary Lofts

foundry_lofts_thumbnail.jpgAnother interesting loft development, this one a conversion of an industrial building rather than a new building. The Foundry Lofts being built near Dupont and Lansdowne in a building where train locomotives were once built. The Post had this to say:

Lorbeth Developments is converting an old foundry building — where locomotives were once made — into Foundry Lofts, a condominium project with 104 loft-style units. The site will feature one- to three-storey suites, as well as a 16,000-square-foot atrium that will be a key feature of the building, offering buyers a central gathering space.

I’ll be watching this one closely as I really like the idea of converting an existing building, with real character, over building something new.

This Builder like’s to build on Contaminated land…….so you know!

  2. Janice Says:

Can you please elaborate? I know it used to be a old train station.

  3. Patrick Says:

Janice: I assume you’re asking Joe to elaborate on the comment about contaminated land? I don’t have any details on that one way or the other, and did consider deleting Joe’s comment as it is distinctly short on detail or evidence for the statement. A link or two would have gone a long way to making it more useful.

By contaminated Joe means that the toxic chemicals that were used to manufacture the trains that were previously built on this land.
Apparently there are some concerns about the ground water and the soil around the site
